One Day Trip to Klang - Sekinchan - Kuala Selangor

Sunday, July 3, 2011
First Stop: Breakfast at Lai Choon Bak Kut Teh, if some of you are familiar with Klang, the shop is situated in the middle of the row (same row with Pin Jou), behind Klang Parade.

Second Stop: Malawati Hill (Head Down from Meru - Kapar Road), all the way straight until you reach a small town where you keep left. For adult, we need to pay RM3 which includes Bukit Malawati and Akuarium (birds and fishes).

Below is the trem that will bring us up to the Melawati Hill to see the lighthouse and the cannon. Car are allowed during weekday and after 7pm. There is only one way up and down.

Get set.... Go to Fort (Kota) Melawati

There is few car park areas: Around round the corner from the viewpoint and to the back of the lighthouse.

This is the lighthouse: Altingsburg Lighthouse. The lighthouse is still in working condition,

Canon over look out the sea.

There is a lots of monkeys hanging around (Silver-Leafed Monkeys) and (Long Tailed Macaques) for foods from visitors (us). The Silver-Leafed babies have golden fur as compared to the adults having dull-ashen grey. The are mainly feeding from the generous tourist and get used to the visitors which passed by. However, to be careful when feeding, they are tame but some times we do not know what they could do when they are furious. Beware of the belonging, some times they might just snatch your bags thinking there is food inside!

The Fort Altingsburg, a Dutch fortification overlooking the Straights of Malacca.

It is pretty hot out there and it is good to have a hideout inside the musuem which is sheltered. It is not too cold inside, however, you can see some information regarding the Melawati Hill especially, you are coming without any tourist guide to tell/inform about the history of the place.

Time to go back: To wait at the same spot where you get down to catch the trem to go down to Akuarium (already in the package).

At the akuarium where you can see some fishes and birds...

This time we have skipped Taman Alam Kuala Selangor: Situated at the food of the Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor. It is home to many flora and fauna especially mangrove area. The major attraction is the river and lush mangrove forest.

Tips: Remember to bring mosquito repellent.

It is still hot, we planned to go the opposite shop to have some refreshment. The shop name "Greedy Cafe".

Next Stop: Chinese Temple
- Along the way to Kuala Selangor, you will passby a river and the temple just after the river. You can see the  unique design of the temple where there is rocks on top of the temple. Having some superstitious though, we decided to drop by and burn some candle and sticks to pray for peace and safe journey.

Unique architecture.

We will passby Kuala Selangor before reaching Sekinchan. (We reserve the place for dinner). To proceed down to Sekinchan (around 10 minutes drive from Kuala Selangor) until you will see some paddy field on your right hand side. Sekinchan is a small town and one of the major rice producing areas of Malaysia.

Fourth Stop: Sekinchan Fishing Village
Before turning into the Sekinchan Fishing Village, you can see a Polica Station on your left, turn left at the T-Junction (at traffic light) and head straight. Turn right at the corner of the road. You will passby a bridge (built with bricks) and you already can see the fishing village on your left hand side. You can park after the bridge and take a snapshot of the village. Usually the fisherman goes to the sea during dawn and come back around evening time.

You would never be bored. The village has a little bit of everything.

Fifth Stop: Pantai Redang
After crossing the brigde, the is T-junction in front as below stated Pantai Redang. To turn to left after seeing this sign board.

The view of the beach..

You can found this very common at the Pantai Redang.. swinging hanging on the trees

Before heading to Paddy Field, we stop by to take picture one of the common place where they load and unload the fish from the ship.

The road to Pantai Redang (without tar) and uneven surface, drive with care as i think my car already losing the alignment due to the uneven surface... most important, drive SLOW!!!

Heading back to the main road (turning to see the paddy field), passby the shop selling the local stuff (kerepek - udang and ubi). The shop also selling nice popiah and prawn kuih with the chili sauce (taste superb). The Purple colour (RM1.50) and prawn cracker (RM2.00). The prawn cracker in yellow colour is worth trying (remember to choose the one with uneven surface) and to test it before buying. They allow testing.

We found this shop office the police station as we are actually very thirsty. We bough one coconut (cold and whole coconut) for RM5.20.

Near to the stall, you can easily see the white colour birds hanging on the trees... the uncle selling coconut ask us to take picture of the birds...

Six Stop: Sekinchan Paddy Field (Padi / Sawah Padi)
We went around July, the field is harvested... shown as below. Found from google, the best time to go is around June and December (to see Golden Brown colour). Now is July.. >.<

The land is already clear and ready for plantation...

The farmer is burning the paddy.. thats why it become black...black....

To avoid disappointment, to check the right timing to come..

Paddy just being harvested...

Harvested and burned...

Leftover - uncollected paddy

We are lucky to found this piece of land that they havent harvest.

Rice! raw rice that havent process

On the way to makan, there is alot of this kind of stall selling fruits... cheap? Dont ask me, im not a regular buyer. but for comparison, we bought 3 mango with 1.8kg which price around RM13...

The selling corn too...

Seventh Stop: Kedai Steamboat Kampung
The shop is just at the corner (right hand side) when you turn into Kuala Selangor. Usually, i will choose the restaurant near to the seaside or those shop hidden inside. I have been to this area few times and for the first time, i felt the food is really fresh and delicious!! This is the best seafood restaurant so far at Kuala Selangor. We have tried some the shop eg: Jetty, but the freshness is not as good as compare to this shop!

Claypot oyster! Thumbs up (Rating 4.8 over 5.0)

Shiong Tong Lala: There is herbs (Kei Ji and another piece of white colour herb - dont know the name) inside the soup. Very fresh taste.

Crab with Ham Tan cooking style. Nice~

We ordered the shop signature toufu: Soft and crispy feeling, the sauce fit perfectly.

The fulling + satisfying dinner comes around RM90++ ONLY.

To visit  again since it is so near from Klang. Around 1 hour drive from SetiaAlam, Klang.

After our satisfying dinner, we head down to Klang town to i-City.

Last Stop: i-CITY
Some of our friend not visited i-City since it was open 1 year ago. I went there 3 times, but to my shock, it keep revolving... First and second time during Christmas and CNY (it was free), now we need to pay RM10 per car (per entry).

New Building: Snow Walk

Since we did not enter, the view of the place as below:

Inside of the snow walk, you can see the snow dropping (it is free)...

The children are very excited to see the snow coming down and it was actually icy and welt when the ice melt...

It is commonly sold around i-City... parents and new comers will buy the light stuff to satisfy their children and  testing of the products..

This is also now... place where you can see reptile for RM8 (adult with mycard).

More shop opening up...
